Today, the organization faces a pivotal moment: following a significant reduction in federal funding, Enterprise Minnesota is entering a strategic turnaround and market expansion phase. The next President & CEO will lead the transformation toward a more diversified, growth-oriented, and financially sustainable future.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO serves as the strategic and operational leader of Enterprise Minnesota. This individual will lead the turnaround, revitalization, and growth strategy, ensuring financial stability, organizational resilience, and market relevance.

The CEO will bring visionary leadership, business acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset to reimagine the organization’s revenue model, strengthen client relationships, and expand service offerings beyond traditional funding channels. This is a hands-on role that requires decisiveness, creativity, and the ability to inspire and mobilize staff, partners, and stakeholders through change.

Key Leadership Priorities

  • Lead a Strategic Turnaround – Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to restore financial health, stabilize operations, and realign resources with sustainable revenue growth goals.
  • Diversify and Expand Revenue Streams – Drive business development initiatives, partnerships, and fee-based consulting growth to offset reduced federal funding.
  • Market Expansion – Strengthen and broaden Enterprise Minnesota’s reach across key manufacturing sectors and geographies, positioning the organization as the premier resource for small and midsized manufacturers.
  • Operational Excellence – Build organizational systems, processes, and metrics that ensure accountability, client satisfaction, and profitable delivery.
  • Board Partnership – Work closely with the Board to refine strategic direction, governance practices, and measurable growth outcomes.
  • Public Advocacy – Serve as a visible and respected champion for Minnesota manufacturing, effectively communicating the industry’s value and needs to government, media, and the public.
  • Talent Development – Recruit, mentor, and empower a high-performing leadership team capable of executing strategy and driving innovation in service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven success leading organizational turnarounds or transformations involving funding loss, restructuring, or new growth strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow revenue through consulting, business development, and partnerships.
  • Background in Professional Services Organizations with strong relationships across Minnesota’s business community.
  • Experience managing complex organizations and collaborating with public and private entities.
  • Strong financial management skills and a history of achieving sustainable profitability.
  • Strategic thinker and change agent with demonstrated ability to set a vision and deliver measurable results.
  • Prior experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors.
  • Excellent communicator — confident, persuasive, and effective in public, private, and political settings.
