Enterprise Minnesota Magazine - August 2010HELPING MANUFACTURERS GROW PROFITABLY |
CEO Peer Council 2.0: building an online community
Staying connected is easier than ever before. Whether through e-mail, text messages or social media sites, we're able to keep in touch with friends, family, coworkers and professional peers. With that in mind, Enterprise Minnesota took a step to help manufacturing leaders connect and collaborate when we rolled out a pilot program this month to the first of our seven CEO Peer Councils (which you'll find profiled on page 13 of this magazine). We've built an online community for CEO Peer Council members to ask questions, to respond to each other or to post helpful materials. For nearly 10 years, Enterprise Minnesota has hosted CEOs from each region of the state for day long peer-to-peer meetings that enable company CEOs to share experiences, ideas and advice in a setting that is both candid and confidential. There are few things we do here that bring more ongoing value to Minnesota's manufacturing executives. Until now, our peer councils have occurred monthly. But with so many pertinent issues to discuss, some CEO Peer Council members leave meetings wanting to continue the mind-meld at an even deeper level. What's more, issues frequently arise during a month that need more attention and support than an once-monthly meeting can accommodate. With an online community as an accompaniment to in-person meetings, we can give CEO Peer Council members an easy way to continue existing conversations or to introduce new topics. To maintain confidentiality, each council will have a space that only its members can access. It will be a private forum of sorts, a place for members to update each other on actions they've taken as a result of advice they've received from other CEO Peer Council members, or to ask questions on fast-burn items when a monthly meeting is still weeks away. It will also be a space where members can view presentations from past guest presenters, review meeting notes or post interesting articles. If you are already a CEO Peer Council member, we hope you will find the online community useful. If you would like to find out more about our CEO Peer Councils, I hope you'll visit our website at www.enterpriseminnesota.org/business-growth/ceo-peer-councils.html or drop me a line. It's all part of our commitment to helping Minnesota manufacturers grow profitably. |
