Enterprise Minnesota honors M&M Precision Machining for Achieving ISO 9001 Certification

Enterprise Minnesota President and CEO Bob Kill, along with staff representatives from Minnesota’s Congressional delegation, toured M&M Precision Machining Oct. 17 to celebrate the company’s recent achievement of ISO 9001 certification.

Enterprise Minnesota consultant Kent Myhrman worked with M&M Precision Machining for 11-months to help them incorporate ISO’s internationally recognized business standards into its manufacturing processes. M&M is using the ISO processes as a quality management system to help grow the company.

“We used to say that precision manufacturing companies don’t need ISO certification, but that’s really changed,” Kill told the group, which included many of the company’s employees. “Progressive companies recognize the value of ISO, not only to assure they are building to quality specifications, but to open up new markets and new customer opportunities.”
M&M Precision Machining offers a full line of machining options, including milling, turning, drill presses, exterior processes and finishing and Swiss Machining for a variety of industries including medical, aerospace and the military.

Enterprise Minnesota consults with medium size and smaller manufacturing companies to help them compete and grow profitably. It also serves as the “voice of manufacturing” to raise the industry’s profile as an appreciated, highly advanced economic driver of Minnesota’s economy. The organization is Minnesota’s affiliate of the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program.
In accepting the award, Matt James said once the company committed to obtaining the certification, it didn’t take long for them to realize the benefits. “We found along the way that the certification is going to help every aspect of our company. Our employees saw the value of it right away.”

He said the certification has already increased sales enough for the company to hire nine new employees.

Anne Arnstrom, constituent services representative for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Lisa Fobbe, Central Minnesota field representative for U.S. Senator Al Franken and Erika Nelson, outreach director for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar were all in attendance to congratulate the company on its achievement.
