Enterprise Minnesota Names Debra Bly as Business Growth Consultant

Enterprise Minnesota has named Debra Bly as its newest Business Growth Consultant. Bly will work with manufacturers throughout the state to identify and implement marketing strategies to grow business.

Jill Osborn Joins Enterprise Minnesota Board of Directors

Enterprise Minnesota announced today that Jill Osborn has joined its Board of Directors. Osborn is president of Minneapolis-based Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on the Central and Phillips neighborhoods of South Minneapolis.

Enteprrise Minnesota Receives National Awards

Enterprise Minnesota continues to garner attention as a leading member of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) under the Department of Commerce. Last month at its national conference in Orlando, Fla., MEP recognized several Enterprise Minnesota staff members with awards for their work over the past year.

2/23/2010   Economic Outlook Improves Dramatically for Manufacturers
Minnesota’s manufacturers are noticeably more optimistic about the economy than last year, according to the State of Manufacturing survey. More than a quarter of manufacturing executives (26 percent) anticipate economic expansion in 2010 and only 19 percent foresee a continued recession.
1/4/2010   Louis Jambois Joins Enterprise Minnesota Board of Directors
Enterprise Minnesota announced that Louis Jambois has joined its Board of Directors. Jambois is president of the St. Paul Port Authority (SPPA). Prior to joining SPPA, Jambois served as executive director of Metro Cities, and as a long-time executive at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Enterprise Minnesota announced it has received a $204,062 grant from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) to develop and implement quality management services for preparing organizations to meet requirements for ISO certification.

The ability of Minnesota’s small manufacturing companies to compete and grow received a shot in the arm today as Enterprise Minnesota announced it has introduced a new training service, Business Problem Solving – The Toyota Way.

Rich Pogue will join the Enterprise Minnesota Board of Directors beginning July 1, 2009. Pogue is president and CEO at New Brighton-based manufacturing company Remmele Engineering.

Steve Thul will be appointed as Chair of the Enterprise Minnesota
Board of Directors beginning July 1, 2009. Thul is president of Whirltronics, Inc. in Buffalo. Board member Merritt Marquardt, retired general counsel at 3M, is appointed to Vice Chair, and Board member Dennis Dotson, president of Dotson Iron Castings in Mankato, appointed to Chair of the Personnel and Nominating Committee for the organization.
5/22/2009   Manufacturers Buoyed by New State Investment in GAP
Enterprise Minnesota’s highly popular Growth Acceleration Program (GAP) received a significant shot in the arm this week when Governor Tim Pawlenty signed into law the legislature’s appropriation of $1 million for the program. GAP is a matching grant that enables small manufacturers to access business improvement services.

Enterprise Minnesota announced it has received a $193,000 grant from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) to develop business solutions for small to medium sized Minnesota manufacturers, drawing upon methodologies used inside the “Toyota Way” model.
5/5/2009   Business Event Helps Manufacturers Go Green
With the state’s small manufacturers implementing lean – reducing waste and inefficiency – increasingly more are now also exploring “going green.” To help those companies, Enterprise Minnesota hosted national green manufacturing expert Judy Wlodarczyk to speak to local companies at the organization’s event The Next Generation of Lean in Elk River.
