Enterprise Minnesota Launches New “Job Safety” Service
Helps Prevent Accidents, Promotes Environmental Health and Safety Awareness.
Minneapolis, MN (November 6, 2008) –Enterprise Minnesota today announced the first and only Job Safety (JS) service certified by the TWI Institute offered in Minnesota. Minnesota manufacturers now can access key information and training that helps reduce accidents, promotes environmental health and safety awareness, and improves overall work quality.
This Job Safety program teaches supervisors in small to mid-sized manufacturing companies to engage their employees in identifying potential hazards and eliminating them, including a method to analyze the chain of events that lead to accidents and hazardous situations. It helps companies provide a safer workplace, while utilizing existing training and knowledge affirmed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
According to Bob Kill, Enterprise Minnesota president and CEO, companies that practice JS know that workplace safety is a top priority and they have a track record experiencing lower accident rates, better staff morale, and improved productivity. “Clearly, the JS training goes a long way toward improving a company’s ability to compete on a landscape that requires its employees to stay safe,” Kill said.
Enterprise Minnesota is the only organization in the state certified by the TWI Institute to offer this Job Safety program. Working through the TWI Institute, Enterprise Minnesota is able to offer the Job Safety service as part of a suite of TWI – Training Within Industry – programs that include Job Relations, Job Methods, and Job Instruction.
TWI is a system of training that helps employees become supervisors or, if they are currently in a supervisory role, to become better supervisors. It shows them how to break down and teach a job in an efficient and effective manner, how to identify, detail and present ideas, and how to lead a group of individuals while managing change, conflict, and the work culture.
As one of 59 affiliates of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST-MEP), Enterprise Minnesota accesses training through the TWI Institute that certifies their work to help Minnesota manufacturers implement business development techniques. Thanks to this partnership, Enterprise Minnesota utilizes industry-wide benchmarks and proven, results-based tools to benefit manufacturers across the state.
Enterprise Minnesota works with small and medium size manufacturing companies to help them compete and thrive. Its services help clients improve their efficiencies, contain their costs, and achieve real growth in sales revenue and earnings.
Enterprise Minnesota is a 501(c) (3) non-profit consulting organization that helps Minnesota manufacturing enterprises grow profitably. Chartered by the Minnesota State Legislature in 1987, Enterprise Minnesota is an affiliate of the U.S. Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership) (MEP).
